Artwork Description

This image is a vibrant and colourful painting of a lush garden filled with various flowers. The style is impressionistic, characterised by broad, expressive brushstrokes and a rich blend of colours. The flowers are rendered in shades of red, pink, orange, yellow, white and purple, with green and blue foliage interspersed throughout.
The background is a soft, muted blue gray, which contrasts nicely with the vivid colours of the flowers, helping them stand out.
The overall effect is lively and dynamic, evoking the beauty and abundance of a blooming garden.

Artist Bio

Based on Coochiemudlo, a smaller island situated approximately a kilometre off the coast of Queensland, between Brisbane and North Stradbroke Island, Millie, an award winning artist, is innately influenced by the abundance of foliage and wildlife that inhabit her locality.
Unbound to a sole medium or creative methodology, her depictions align with the subject’s intrinsic elements and resonance. Millie paints in a way that depicts her thoughts and feelings of the subject, which has helped her tremendously throughout her adult life and experiences.
“There is no grief as you embrace and involve yourself deeply within the subject of your painting,” Millie states after the passing of her only son in 2003. “Painting was a lifesaving form of comfort at the time of my son’s passing, and continues to be up to the present moment.”
Millie possesses a BA in Fine Arts from Charles Sturt University and a Masters in Art Therapy from the University of Queensland.
