Original painting of a “Grazing Giraffe” by Moira Briel
This original work was painted on a 61cm by 45.50cm and a depth of 1.50 cm on a acrylic canvas and a protective coat of (gloss) varnish has been applied to seal the acrylic paints and ensure the work stays looking its best for a life time.
This graceful Grazing Giraffe is grazing twigs and leaves from the trees above , the black background makes the giraffe pop. The original was done in acrylics on canvas and all the colours of browns, beige, orange and white come together to make this so realistic to their natural markings in real life in the wild . Giraffes are known for their long, tall appearance. They have a small hump on their back like a camel and have a spotted pattern similar to that of a leopard. Because of the combination of these features, some people called the giraffe a “camel-leopard.” That’s where the giraffe’s species name “camelopardalis” comes from.
