After going through my oldest paintings, I recently came across some of my earliest pieces of working with oils. Welcome to my first impressions of the fascinating of the Australian Outback. I remember I couldn't wait to depict the stark colours of the Australian Outback we encountered during our trip to Birdsville in South West Queensland and beyond.
"Along a Remote Road in Outback Queensland" comes from the memories of our trip in 2009, travelling to Birdsville, Marree, Coober Pedy, Uluru and as far north as Daly Waters Pub. On many an occasion, the roads were straight and narrow, covering long distances along vast plains of vegetation amongst the deep red earthy tones of the soil. They appeared to never end as we were travelling for miles and yet, as per our map, hardly moved an inch. If one has never been to visit the Outback regions, one can't really feel or visualise just how vast and remote this amazing region is.
Original painting created in 2013, updated in 2021 and at that time I signed with my signature and the year, same as with my ceramic pieces.
