Along the banks of the Murray River

"Along the banks of the Murray River" is another painting depicting the tranquillity of a slow moving inland river. The serenity of just sitting or standing there does a world of good for one's feeling of well being. This scene was of our trip to southern NSW / northern VIC , where we stayed in Albury and took some walks along this mighty river in Spring. It's wonderful to see the new leaves of Gum trees as well as the Jacarandas with their dainty purple blooms during the Spring season. Always a sign of hope and renewal, after the odd cold and wet winter months. Regional lakes and rivers create many of these serene vistas. This tranquil scene was a joy to create on a close to full sheet of watercolour paper.

Monika Scheffler is a Sydney based visual artist who specialises in acrylic and watercolour paintings. She was hooked for life in 2012, when she started participating in various courses to this day, either online, in classrooms and workshops.
Monika draws inspiration from nature and captures its beauty in her realistic to impressionistic style. Her artworks can feature delicate details, expressive brushstrokes and vibrant colours. Her goal is to bring joy and peace to the viewer through her natural landscapes and floral art.
Monika has exhibited her paintings in several group art shows, online platforms as well as a gallery in collaboration with another artist and has won several awards along the way, receiving positive feedback from critics and collectors alike. Some of her notable works include “Blue Mountains – Three Sisters”, “Govetts Leap Blue Mountains”, “Flower Power”, “Manly Ferry Ride at Sunset” and “Autumn Sunshine”.
For this year, in response to the world around us, Monika has set her sights to creating more impressionistic floral artworks, incorporating her love of colours as well as honing her skills with soft pastels after having participated in a workshop in recent times amidst finalising projects she began last year.
