Artwork Description

"Cascading Katoomba Waterfalls, Blue Mountains" is a somewhat different view than from above. It was around lunchtime on a sunny winters day when hubby went down the stairs to the first tier of this waterfall to take this amazing shot. Looking up to the sky one has this sunny and bright light and the more your eye travels down the rocks of the cliff face in shadow, following the softly cascading waters till at your feet there are puddles of water glowing like gold, reflecting from the sunshine above. Who would have thought there might be golden pools at the bottom of the stairs.

Artist Bio

Monika Scheffler is a Sydney based visual artist who specialises in acrylic and watercolour paintings. She was hooked for life in 2012, when she started participating in various courses to this day, either online, in classrooms and workshops.
Monika draws inspiration from nature and captures its beauty in her realistic to impressionistic style. Her artworks can feature delicate details, expressive brushstrokes and vibrant colours. Her goal is to bring joy and peace to the viewer through her natural landscapes and floral art.
Monika has exhibited her paintings in several group art shows, online platforms as well as a gallery in collaboration with another artist and has won several awards along the way, receiving positive feedback from critics and collectors alike. Some of her notable works include “Blue Mountains – Three Sisters”, “Govetts Leap Blue Mountains”, “Flower Power”, “Manly Ferry Ride at Sunset” and “Autumn Sunshine”.
For this year, in response to the world around us, Monika has set her sights to creating more impressionistic floral artworks, incorporating her love of colours as well as honing her skills with soft pastels after having participated in a workshop in recent times amidst finalising projects she began last year.
