Drought in the Megalong Valley

"Drought in the Megalong Valley" is another Blue Mountains landscape just south of the town of Blackheath. I was inspired by the wide canyon surrounded by spectacular cliff formations. We were driving through on a lovely bright sunny dry day which emphasised the fact that there hadn't been much rain lately, with the grasses slowly drying out. Don't you just love driving out to the countryside, away from suburbia, just enjoying the fresh air through open windows and seeing the wonderful scenery the Blue Mountains National Park has to offer. I love it... I just don't often get the chance to travel.

Monika Scheffler is a Sydney based visual artist who specialises in acrylic and watercolour paintings. She was hooked for life in 2012, when she started participating in various courses to this day, either online, in classrooms and workshops.
Monika draws inspiration from nature and captures its beauty in her realistic to impressionistic style. Her artworks can feature delicate details, expressive brushstrokes and vibrant colours. Her goal is to bring joy and peace to the viewer through her natural landscapes and floral art.
Monika has exhibited her paintings in several group art shows, online platforms as well as a gallery in collaboration with another artist and has won several awards along the way, receiving positive feedback from critics and collectors alike. Some of her notable works include “Blue Mountains – Three Sisters”, “Govetts Leap Blue Mountains”, “Flower Power”, “Manly Ferry Ride at Sunset” and “Autumn Sunshine”.
For this year, in response to the world around us, Monika has set her sights to creating more impressionistic floral artworks, incorporating her love of colours as well as honing her skills with soft pastels after having participated in a workshop in recent times amidst finalising projects she began last year.
