Artwork Description

Visiting the Capertee Valley on a lovely day in Spring, we followed the road all the way to this quaint old village of Glen Davis and was the inspiration of "Glen Davis Village in Spring". We were taking a break at their camping area when looking back towards the village, with the Wollemi National Park and Sentinel Mount in the background. One of the widest canyons in the world surrounded by rugged sandstone cliffs and well known for its Birdlife. The street is rugglined with old cottages which used to be small shops in Glen Davis hey day when oil shale was being mined. I hope to visit this amazing valley in the near future.

Artist Bio

Monika Scheffler is a Sydney based visual artist who specialises in acrylic and watercolour paintings. She was hooked for life in 2012, when she started participating in various courses to this day, either online, in classrooms and workshops.
Monika draws inspiration from nature and captures its beauty in her realistic to impressionistic style. Her artworks can feature delicate details, expressive brushstrokes and vibrant colours. Her goal is to bring joy and peace to the viewer through her natural landscapes and floral art.
Monika has exhibited her paintings in several group art shows, online platforms as well as a gallery in collaboration with another artist and has won several awards along the way, receiving positive feedback from critics and collectors alike. Some of her notable works include “Blue Mountains – Three Sisters”, “Govetts Leap Blue Mountains”, “Flower Power”, “Manly Ferry Ride at Sunset” and “Autumn Sunshine”.
For this year, in response to the world around us, Monika has set her sights to creating more impressionistic floral artworks, incorporating her love of colours as well as honing her skills with soft pastels after having participated in a workshop in recent times amidst finalising projects she began last year.
