Artwork Description

"Old Victoria Bridge in Penrith" is an older work I have just come across whilst looking for a different painting. It's been a while since we've been walking along the Great River Walk in Penrith but this aspect was way before the new pedestrian bridge Yandhai Nepean Crossing opened.
This was an early morning walk in late summer, where the sky was still a light grey and the clouds just getting a tinge of colour. I enjoy creating scenes of slow moving waters like the Nepean River or any other lake or river I've encountered over the years. There's a sense of time slowing down and with it the problems one faces everyday seem to just flow just like the river. And, of course, there are these wonderful reflections of the bridges pylons in the water, like a lovely warm sheen.

Monika Scheffler is a Sydney based visual artist who specialises in acrylic and watercolour paintings. She was hooked for life in 2012, when she started participating in various courses to this day, either online, in classrooms and workshops.
Monika draws inspiration from nature and captures its beauty in her realistic to impressionistic style. Her artworks can feature delicate details, expressive brushstrokes and vibrant colours. Her goal is to bring joy and peace to the viewer through her natural landscapes and floral art.
Monika has exhibited her paintings in several group art shows, online platforms as well as a gallery in collaboration with another artist and has won several awards along the way, receiving positive feedback from critics and collectors alike. Some of her notable works include “Blue Mountains – Three Sisters”, “Govetts Leap Blue Mountains”, “Flower Power”, “Manly Ferry Ride at Sunset” and “Autumn Sunshine”.
For this year, in response to the world around us, Monika has set her sights to creating more impressionistic floral artworks, incorporating her love of colours as well as honing her skills with soft pastels after having participated in a workshop in recent times amidst finalising projects she began last year.
