Pink Waratah on White

Over the last month or so, we took the first opportunity to head up the mountains to Blackheath and Govetts Leap Lookout. To our dismay, the road has been closed as maintenance works are being carried out at the lookout till next February. So, we parked the car at the Cultural Centre and took a hike to the lookout. The first time we noticed many Waratah blooms not quite ready to open up, so three weeks later, we were lucky to get another fine day and saw that many had revealed their beauty. This "Pink Waratah on White" is the 3rd of a few I've illustrated on white paper. Love seeing these gorgeous flower heads popping up in the wild as we enjoy the great outdoors.

Monika Scheffler is a Sydney based visual artist who specialises in acrylic and watercolour paintings. She was hooked for life in 2012, when she started participating in various courses to this day, either online, in classrooms and workshops.
Monika draws inspiration from nature and captures its beauty in her realistic to impressionistic style. Her artworks can feature delicate details, expressive brushstrokes and vibrant colours. Her goal is to bring joy and peace to the viewer through her natural landscapes and floral art.

For this year, in response to the world around us, Monika has set her sights to creating more impressionistic floral artworks, incorporating her love of colours as well as honing her skills with soft pastels after having participated in a workshop in recent times amidst finalising projects she began last year.
