Rolling Hills of Apollo Bay

"Rolling Hills of Apollo Bay" was inspired by being on a coach tour along the Great Ocean Road from Melbourne in Nov 2024. Our first stop was for lunch at Apollo Bay, and soon after we were on the road again, and as we were driving along, the road became quite hilly and the coach stopped at one point, where we could get out and look for native wildlife up in the trees. We stayed inside, and this was the beautiful vista we were looking at. I knew I had to create this scene on a larger canvas with an added touch of artistic licence.
I began this project in February and finished it in March. An absolute labour of love as always and just in time for the Easter Show.

Monika Scheffler is a Sydney based visual artist who specialises in acrylic and watercolour paintings. She was hooked for life in 2012, when she started participating in various courses to this day, either online, in classrooms and workshops.
Monika draws inspiration from nature and captures its beauty in her realistic to impressionistic style. Her artworks can feature delicate details, expressive brushstrokes and vibrant colours. Her goal is to bring joy and peace to the viewer through her natural landscapes and floral art.
Monika has exhibited her paintings in several group art shows, online platforms as well as a gallery in collaboration with another artist and has won several awards along the way, receiving positive feedback from critics and collectors alike. Some of her notable works include “Blue Mountains – Three Sisters”, “Govetts Leap Blue Mountains”, “Flower Power”, “Manly Ferry Ride at Sunset” and “Autumn Sunshine”.
For this year, in response to the world around us, Monika has set her sights to creating more impressionistic floral artworks, incorporating her love of colours as well as honing her skills with soft pastels after having participated in a workshop in recent times amidst finalising projects she began last year.
