Artwork Description

"Shadows under three River Red Gums" was inspired by one of our road trips to the NSW / VIC border a few years back. We went for a walk early one morning along the banks of the mighty Murray River around Noreuil Park, South Albury when we came across this bend in the river, with three gum trees providing wonderful shade, but looking across the river, there were these lovely soft reflections of the other bank, basking in sunlight... a stark contrast to be sure. I just love the serenity and tranquillity of slow moving waters of rivers. Seems to have a wonderful calming effect on me.

Artist Bio

Monika Scheffler is a Sydney based visual artist who specialises in acrylic and watercolour paintings. She was hooked for life in 2012, when she started participating in various courses to this day, either online, in classrooms and workshops.
Monika draws inspiration from nature and captures its beauty in her realistic to impressionistic style. Her artworks can feature delicate details, expressive brushstrokes and vibrant colours. Her goal is to bring joy and peace to the viewer through her natural landscapes and floral art.
Monika has exhibited her paintings in several group art shows, online platforms as well as a gallery in collaboration with another artist and has won several awards along the way, receiving positive feedback from critics and collectors alike. Some of her notable works include “Blue Mountains – Three Sisters”, “Govetts Leap Blue Mountains”, “Flower Power”, “Manly Ferry Ride at Sunset” and “Autumn Sunshine”.
For this year, in response to the world around us, Monika has set her sights to creating more impressionistic floral artworks, incorporating her love of colours as well as honing her skills with soft pastels after having participated in a workshop in recent times amidst finalising projects she began last year.
