Artwork Description

"Tulips: Just for You!" is yet another painting of Tulips heralding the Spring season. Inspired by my visit to The Floriade in Canberra a number of years ago. Although with a short life span, their vibrant cheery colours lets one forget the cold, wet, snowy Winter months just gone by and lifts ones spirits.
I tried something I don't often do in my practice, my heavily pigmented inks formed the background colours, which I kept to a warmish hue and then I used a palette knife for the design work of the tulips and their leaves, giving it an impressionistic feel. I decided to use some cool tones to create some contrast.
Original painting created in November 2020. Signed on the front.

Artist Bio

Monika Scheffler is a Sydney based visual artist who specialises in acrylic and watercolour paintings. She was hooked for life in 2012, when she started participating in various courses to this day, either online, in classrooms and workshops.
Monika draws inspiration from nature and captures its beauty in her realistic to impressionistic style. Her artworks can feature delicate details, expressive brushstrokes and vibrant colours. Her goal is to bring joy and peace to the viewer through her natural landscapes and floral art.
Monika has exhibited her paintings in several group art shows, online platforms as well as a gallery in collaboration with another artist and has won several awards along the way, receiving positive feedback from critics and collectors alike. Some of her notable works include “Blue Mountains – Three Sisters”, “Govetts Leap Blue Mountains”, “Flower Power”, “Manly Ferry Ride at Sunset” and “Autumn Sunshine”.
For this year, in response to the world around us, Monika has set her sights to creating more impressionistic floral artworks, incorporating her love of colours as well as honing her skills with soft pastels after having participated in a workshop in recent times amidst finalising projects she began last year.
