Artwork Description

"Winter in the Lake District Cumbria" was inpired by a reference photo I came across on the Photos 4 Artists website. I created this wonderful landscape pretty much not long after I first began to use watercolours. Since the beginning my muse has been for the most part creating landscapes from all over the world. I suppose, partly due to knowing I won't have the chance to visit, although I'd love to. It's a feeling of a cool wintry day, the sun hidden behind high clouds and even the water with it's tones of grey looks cold and uninviting.
Original painting created in September 2014. Signed on the front.
Presented in a white double mat with foam board backing. All it requires now is a frame of your choice for protection.
Signature, hanging and in situ setting with or without frame is for display purposes only and is not to scale. Just to give you an idea of how this wintry landscape may look on your wall.
Actual artwork size: w40.5cm x h27.5cm
Mat size: w54.5cm x h41.5cm
Signed Certificate of Authenticity is included.

Artist Bio

Monika Scheffler is a Sydney based visual artist who specialises in acrylic and watercolour paintings. She was hooked for life in 2012, when she started participating in various courses to this day, either online, in classrooms and workshops.
Monika draws inspiration from nature and captures its beauty in her realistic to impressionistic style. Her artworks can feature delicate details, expressive brushstrokes and vibrant colours. Her goal is to bring joy and peace to the viewer through her natural landscapes and floral art.
Monika has exhibited her paintings in several group art shows, online platforms as well as a gallery in collaboration with another artist and has won several awards along the way, receiving positive feedback from critics and collectors alike. Some of her notable works include “Blue Mountains – Three Sisters”, “Govetts Leap Blue Mountains”, “Flower Power”, “Manly Ferry Ride at Sunset” and “Autumn Sunshine”.
For this year, in response to the world around us, Monika has set her sights to creating more impressionistic floral artworks, incorporating her love of colours as well as honing her skills with soft pastels after having participated in a workshop in recent times amidst finalising projects she began last year.
