Acrylic on paper
Signed on the front.
Harriet looked out her large bright window across the bay to the buildings opposite on the hillside. As her eyes adjusted to the light, she focused on a small dark window. What did she see there inside that room? What was it that Harriet saw?
Painted in acrylic on paper, I have used a dark midnight blue for deep shadows and the mysterious windows. Washes, or glazes, in umber, magenta and midnight blue are applied in layers over the shadow to build up the features of the hillside town.
The painting has an aged patina to it which is created using the simple pallet and at the same time its contemporary feel is achieved using the simplicity and economy of the pallet knife and washes.
