Artwork Description

Freesias are one of my favourite flowers. Their vibrant yet delicate beauty comes in an array of stunning colours. I personally prefer the pinks so I was delighted to stumble across a stunning photo by Sue Rickhuss which I was inspired to paint! She was delighted to see the end result. I will search out the freesia bulbs and attempt to grow my own indoors. Unfortunately I have to wait 10 weeks for the bulbs to bloom!

Painted with professional acrylic paints on stretched good quality canvas and varnished with two coats to protect the art.

Artist Bio

Flowers bring vitality and joy to any space.
My passion lies in crafting contemporary botanical art that captures nature's essence, with a vibrant and sometimes whimsical flair, drawing inspiration from renowned impressionists such as Gauguin, Matisse, and Bonnard.

I have a background in graphic design publishing and art directing, including illustrating and designing various book titles and garden magazines. After leaving my hectic career I rediscovered my love for painting. I honed my skills at the National Art School in Sydney and the Waverley Woollahra Art School under the mentorship of (late) acclaimed artist Stavros Papantoniou. Supported by art enthusiasts worldwide, I showcase my work on platforms like Bluethumb Online Gallery, The Online Art Gallery Australia and Saatchi Art. Recently I have posted a small selection of prints on INPRNT.

When seeking inspiration, I enjoy exploring art galleries and exhibitions, as well as the tranquil botanical gardens that boast beautiful and ever-changing displays of blooming plants.
