Hello Sunshine! Sunflowers Still Life

Did you know there are about 70 species of sunflowers? And the French word for sunflower is “tournesol” which means “turns with the sun”. So I immediately thought of Van Gogh’s Sunflowers which of course is absolutely startling in real life. A golden glow emanates from the painting and grips the viewer into a frozen stance. No other artist has captured the beauty of sunflowers as well as Van Gogh. A true work of art! But, if you’d like a little joyful and uplifting painting guaranteed to bring some sunshine to your walls, perhaps “Hello Sunshine” might just be the one!
I have also painted this as a mark of Solidarity with Ukraine 🇺🇦 the sunflower is their national flower.

My passion lies in crafting contemporary botanical art that captures nature's essence, with a vibrant and sometimes whimsical flair, drawing inspiration from renowned impressionists such as Gauguin, Matisse, and Bonnard.

I have a background in graphic design publishing and art directing, including illustrating and designing various book titles and garden magazines. After leaving my hectic career I rediscovered my love for painting. I honed my skills at the National Art School in Sydney and the Waverley Woollahra Art School under the mentorship of (late) acclaimed artist Stavros Papantoniou. Supported by art enthusiasts worldwide, I showcase my work on platforms like Bluethumb Online Gallery, The Online Art Gallery Australia and Saatchi Art. Recently I have posted a small selection of prints on INPRNT.

When seeking inspiration, I enjoy exploring art galleries and exhibitions, as well as the tranquil botanical gardens that boast beautiful and ever-changing displays of blooming plants.
