Artwork Description

I’ve always wanted to include my gorgeous Japanese plate in a still life. It was a bit tricky to paint. With the addition of dahlias I’ve tried to soften the dramatic presence of the plate and also with the delicate magenta and white cloth.

Painted with professional acrylic paints on good quality canvas with two coats of varnish to protect the art.

Artist Bio

Flowers bring vitality and joy to any space.
My passion lies in crafting contemporary botanical art that captures nature's essence, with a vibrant and sometimes whimsical flair, drawing inspiration from renowned impressionists such as Gauguin, Matisse, and Bonnard.

I have a background in graphic design publishing and art directing, including illustrating and designing various book titles and garden magazines. After leaving my hectic career I rediscovered my love for painting. I honed my skills at the National Art School in Sydney and the Waverley Woollahra Art School under the guidance of acclaimed artist Stavros Papantoniou. Supported by art enthusiasts worldwide, I showcase my work on platforms like Bluethumb Online Gallery, Art Lovers Australia, and Fine Art America.

When seeking inspiration, I enjoy exploring art galleries and exhibitions, as well as the tranquil botanical gardens that boast beautiful and ever-changing displays of blooming plants.
