Water Lily Mini

I’m starting on a few minis to offer different sizes. This little painting is from a a group of photos taken at the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney. I came in close to capture the lovely shapes of the shadows formed by the light in the water lily garden. I deleted extra background to create a minimalist semi abstract design. I feel this would look great on a mantel or bookshelf just for a change.

My passion lies in crafting contemporary botanical art that captures nature's essence, with a vibrant and sometimes whimsical flair, drawing inspiration from renowned impressionists such as Gauguin, Matisse, and Bonnard.

I have a background in graphic design publishing and art directing, including illustrating and designing various book titles and garden magazines. After leaving my hectic career I rediscovered my love for painting. I honed my skills at the National Art School in Sydney and the Waverley Woollahra Art School under the mentorship of (late) acclaimed artist Stavros Papantoniou. Supported by art enthusiasts worldwide, I showcase my work on platforms like Bluethumb Online Gallery, The Online Art Gallery Australia and Saatchi Art. Recently I have posted a small selection of prints on INPRNT.

When seeking inspiration, I enjoy exploring art galleries and exhibitions, as well as the tranquil botanical gardens that boast beautiful and ever-changing displays of blooming plants.
