Artwork Description

A cinematic monochrome photograph captured late at night in Victoria’s High Country, where powerful beams of light cut through dense forest and drifting mist to create the illusion of an unexplained encounter hidden deep within the trees. Arrival Beyond the Mist blends reality with the atmosphere of classic science-fiction cinema, transforming the Australian bush into a scene filled with mystery, tension, and wonder.

Although this is not a genuine extraterrestrial encounter, the image possesses an uncanny cinematic tension that makes it feel as though something unknown has just arrived beyond the trees. Created late at night using a distant spotlight hidden behind the forest, the photograph turns an ordinary Australian bush setting into a scene of mystery, silence, and possibility.

The interplay of fog, shadow, and intense monochrome contrast gives the work a dreamlike presence — part memory, part film still, part unexplained event.

Limited edition of 25 only.

Artist Bio

Nick Psomiadis was born in 1968 in Melbourne, Australia to Greek parents who migrated to the country in the mid-sixties. He received his education from a Technical School, renowned for its comprehensive curriculum integrating both academic and practical skills. This solid foundation paved the way for his successful career in jewelry making, which spanned nearly two decades starting in 1986. Additionally, he indulged in his love for photography, which he pursued as a hobby and pastime.

In 2011, Nick made a life-changing decision to follow his passion for photography, leaving behind a fulfilling profession. He furthered his education, completing a course of studies that encompassed both theory and practical training, and was conferred with a "Diploma of Photography." However, he quickly realized that turning his passion into a profession would require immense effort and dedication.

Establishing a home studio, Nick laid the foundation for his art, which he created and exhibited for a decade. In the winter of 2021, he achieved a significant milestone by purchasing a studio and gallery space in Melbourne, departing from his modest home studio. Nick currently produces photographic fine art, prints, and displays his works under the name N I K A R T Studio & Gallery, 7/20 Ponting Street Williamstown, Vic 3016.

Nick draws inspiration from both the natural landscape and the built environment, patiently waiting for the perfect moment to capture an ephemeral moment in time.
