Artwork Description

Within the sculpted embrace of Antelope Canyon, time and elements have carved a masterpiece of flowing sandstone. Ethereal Currents captures the fiery glow of vermillion and orange, seamlessly blending into the deep purples of the canyon’s shadowed depths. The undulating rock, shaped by centuries of wind and water, mimics the movement of waves—frozen in time yet alive with shifting light. In this fleeting moment, the canyon breathes in colour, whispering the secrets of the earth through its fluid forms.

Artist Bio

Nick Psomiadis was born in 1968 in Melbourne, Australia to Greek parents who migrated to the country in the mid-sixties. He received his education from a Technical School, renowned for its comprehensive curriculum integrating both academic and practical skills. This solid foundation paved the way for his successful career in jewelry making, which spanned nearly two decades starting in 1986. Additionally, he indulged in his love for photography, which he pursued as a hobby and pastime.

In 2011, Nick made a life-changing decision to follow his passion for photography, leaving behind a fulfilling profession. He furthered his education, completing a course of studies that encompassed both theory and practical training, and was conferred with a "Diploma of Photography." However, he quickly realized that turning his passion into a profession would require immense effort and dedication.

Establishing a home studio, Nick laid the foundation for his art, which he created and exhibited for a decade. In the winter of 2021, he achieved a significant milestone by purchasing a studio and gallery space in Melbourne, departing from his modest home studio. Nick currently produces photographic fine art, prints, and displays his works under the name N I K A R T Studio & Gallery, 7/20 Ponting Street Williamstown, Vic 3016.

Nick draws inspiration from both the natural landscape and the built environment, patiently waiting for the perfect moment to capture an ephemeral moment in time.
