Blues

Blues is a calming still life painted in limited palette from light to dark blue. A squat vase is adorned with a wattle motif and is filled with a waratah, gum and grevillea flower bouquet. Playing with organic line and washes of watercolour the elements are simplified to their recognisable shapes.

Nicola is a Perth based multi-award winning artist and owner of The Artists Nook a collaborative artists team providing public and community art projects throughout WA. She has a BA Honours in Fine Art Printmaking from Gray’s School of Art in Scotland.

Her art practice encompasses printmaking and painting with a focus on linocut and watercolour. Nature is a constant throughout her work with native flowers and birds as subjects and motifs.

Art Nouveau and stained glass work have been an enduring inspiration and are echoed throughout her pieces. Juxtaposing flat ink against textural and tonal watercolour washes create a tactility in her still life and botanical pieces.
