This large still life has a dramatic composition which makes the tablecloth the feature. The flowers are banksia, protea and hakea with eucalyptus leaves. The tablecloth has an organic pattern with the lots of orange tones echoed in the vase.

Black ink linework gives the effect of stained glass while adding to the tonal depth.

Nicola is a Perth based multi-award winning artist and owner of The Artists Nook a collaborative artists team providing public and community art projects throughout WA. She has a BA Honours in Fine Art Printmaking from Gray’s School of Art in Scotland.

Her art practice encompasses printmaking and painting with a focus on linocut and watercolour. Nature is a constant throughout her work with native flowers and birds as subjects and motifs.

Art Nouveau and stained glass work have been an enduring inspiration and are echoed throughout her pieces. Juxtaposing flat ink against textural and tonal watercolour washes create a tactility in her still life and botanical pieces.
