Finding Inspiration is a vibrant still life filled with books, colour and greenery. I love the sense of quiet a still life invokes, and this painting has a balance of busy and quiet, dark and light.

Painted with a bold and contrasting palette with washes of watercolour and finished with intricate linework.

Nicola is a Perth based multi-award winning artist and owner of The Artists Nook a collaborative artists team providing public and community art projects throughout WA. She has a BA Honours in Fine Art Printmaking from Gray’s School of Art in Scotland.

Her art practice encompasses printmaking and painting with a focus on linocut and watercolour. Nature is a constant throughout her work with native flowers and birds as subjects and motifs.

Art Nouveau and stained glass work have been an enduring inspiration and are echoed throughout her pieces. Juxtaposing flat ink against textural and tonal watercolour washes create a tactility in her still life and botanical pieces.
