Floral Vase No.1 is a handcoloured linocut, this is number 7 in a variable edition of 7. Each print in a different colourway.

Bluefaced honeyeaters and qualup bells adorn the vase which is filled with banksias and bottlebrush flowers which make up this still life. The vase going infront of the border giving a dramatic depth to the image.

The linocut is intricately carved and printed then carefully handcoloured with watercolours.

Nicola is a Perth based multi-award winning artist and owner of The Artists Nook a collaborative artists team providing public and community art projects throughout WA. She has a BA Honours in Fine Art Printmaking from Gray’s School of Art in Scotland.

Her art practice encompasses printmaking and painting with a focus on linocut and watercolour. Nature is a constant throughout her work with native flowers and birds as subjects and motifs.

Art Nouveau and stained glass work have been an enduring inspiration and are echoed throughout her pieces. Juxtaposing flat ink against textural and tonal watercolour washes create a tactility in her still life and botanical pieces.
