Ghost Gums

Ghost Gums is a small abstract landscape painting on wood panel depicting gum trees against the red dirt and a stylized landscape.

The elements in the painting are simplified and rebuilt with softly geometric shapes held by organic lines like stained glass. Painted in blocks of bold and subtle colours emanating the outback landscape of red dirt and blue skies.

The painting wraps around the deep edges of the panel and can be hung or freestanding

Nicola is a Perth based multi-award winning artist and owner of The Artists Nook a collaborative artists team providing public and community art projects throughout WA. She has a BA Honours in Fine Art Printmaking from Gray’s School of Art in Scotland.

Her art practice encompasses printmaking and painting with a focus on linocut and watercolour. Nature is a constant throughout her work with native flowers and birds as subjects and motifs.

Art Nouveau and stained glass work have been an enduring inspiration and are echoed throughout her pieces. Juxtaposing flat ink against textural and tonal watercolour washes create a tactility in her still life and botanical pieces.
