Lilac Skies

Lilac Skies is a light and nature filled painting with flowering gums, waratahs and a New Holland Honeyeater. 

The rich reds, purples and greens are balanced with the light blues and purples of the background. Painted with watercolour and finished with a web of intricate ink linework.

Finished with UV resistant varnish it is painted on a stretched canvas with black painted edges and is ready to be hung in a beautiful home.

Nicola is a Perth based multi-award winning artist and owner of The Artists Nook a collaborative artists team providing public and community art projects throughout WA. She has a BA Honours in Fine Art Printmaking from Gray’s School of Art in Scotland.

Her art practice encompasses printmaking and painting with a focus on linocut and watercolour. Nature is a constant throughout her work with native flowers and birds as subjects and motifs.

Art Nouveau and stained glass work have been an enduring inspiration and are echoed throughout her pieces. Juxtaposing flat ink against textural and tonal watercolour washes create a tactility in her still life and botanical pieces.
