Artwork Description

Rainbow Trout is inspired by my childhood memories of growing up in Scotland's North East where my family spent a lot of time fishing rivers and lakes for freshwater fish.'

I always loved the patterns and shapes on these fish, especially the rainbow trout. I have depicted the fish as being underwater and balance the intricate carving on the fish with expressive graphic carving on the rocks.

This four layer reduction print is monochromatic interpretation in shades of green. Printed using Graphic Chemical and Lawrence oil based inks on 300gsm Bockingford paper. It is an unframed limited edition of three original prints and is signed, numbered and titled in the front with a generous border for framing.

The printed area is 29 x 21.5cm on 30 x 42 cm paper

Artist Bio

Nicola is a Perth based multi-award winning artist and owner of The Artists Nook a collaborative artists team providing public and community art projects throughout WA. She has a BA Honours in Fine Art Printmaking from Gray’s School of Art in Scotland.

Her art practice encompasses printmaking and painting with a focus on linocut and watercolour. Nature is a constant throughout her work with native flowers and birds as subjects and motifs.

Art Nouveau and stained glass work have been an enduring inspiration and are echoed throughout her pieces. Juxtaposing flat ink against textural and tonal watercolour washes create a tactility in her still life and botanical pieces.
