Artwork Description

Pardalote Pair is a diptych made up of two 15cm square paintings of the sweet spotted pardalote bird, these tiny birds are so full of energy and colour and are a joy to paint.

Depicted against bright magenta and lime backgrounds in a still life setting. Painted with artists quality paints on stretched canvases and finished with a gloss varnish to make the colours pop. They can be displayed as a pair or individually and are ready to hang.

Nicola is a Perth based multi-award winning artist and owner of The Artists Nook a collaborative artists team providing public and community art projects throughout WA. She has a BA Honours in Fine Art Printmaking from Gray’s School of Art in Scotland.

Her art practice encompasses printmaking and painting with a focus on linocut and watercolour. Nature is a constant throughout her work with native flowers and birds as subjects and motifs.

Art Nouveau and stained glass work have been an enduring inspiration and are echoed throughout her pieces. Juxtaposing flat ink against textural and tonal watercolour washes create a tactility in her still life and botanical pieces.
