Stripes and Florals

Stripes and Florals is an original acrylic painting on a professionally made canvas.

An arched vase is filled with eucalyptus macrocarpa stems, their leaves, pods and flower filling the upper half of the image. Vibrant colours make up this stylized still life with pinks, yellows and peaches contrasting with the blues and greens of the leaves. Painted in a combination of flat and tonal blocks of colour with a framework of black lines which emphasize the bold composition.

Nicola is a Perth based multi-award winning artist and owner of The Artists Nook a collaborative artists team providing public and community art projects throughout WA. She has a BA Honours in Fine Art Printmaking from Gray’s School of Art in Scotland.

Her art practice encompasses printmaking and painting with a focus on linocut and watercolour. Nature is a constant throughout her work with native flowers and birds as subjects and motifs.

Art Nouveau and stained glass work have been an enduring inspiration and are echoed throughout her pieces. Juxtaposing flat ink against textural and tonal watercolour washes create a tactility in her still life and botanical pieces.
