Sweet Tea

A sweet blue wren, always a favourite of the Australian birds, is perched on a copper rimmed teacup. The stacked cups are filled with a white and blue floral pattern and are depicted against a bold pink fabric, the perspective intentionally flattened to emphasize the pattern in a playful manner.

Nicola is a Perth based multi-award winning artist and owner of The Artists Nook a collaborative artists team providing public and community art projects throughout WA. She has a BA Honours in Fine Art Printmaking from Gray’s School of Art in Scotland.

Her art practice encompasses printmaking and painting with a focus on linocut and watercolour. Nature is a constant throughout her work with native flowers and birds as subjects and motifs.

Art Nouveau and stained glass work have been an enduring inspiration and are echoed throughout her pieces. Juxtaposing flat ink against textural and tonal watercolour washes create a tactility in her still life and botanical pieces.
