Tea Tree & Pardalote

This piece is inspired by the stunning striped pardalote bird found in Perth, Western Australia. Surounded by tea tree flowers and seeds with other leaves and branches found in my garden.

The subtle beauty of watercolours are contrasted by the pen and ink line work. Playing with line, pattern and shapes.

It is an original watercolour and ink piece on 300gsm paper.

Nicola is a Perth based multi-award winning artist and owner of The Artists Nook a collaborative artists team providing public and community art projects throughout WA. She has a BA Honours in Fine Art Printmaking from Gray’s School of Art in Scotland.

Her art practice encompasses printmaking and painting with a focus on linocut and watercolour. Nature is a constant throughout her work with native flowers and birds as subjects and motifs.

Art Nouveau and stained glass work have been an enduring inspiration and are echoed throughout her pieces. Juxtaposing flat ink against textural and tonal watercolour washes create a tactility in her still life and botanical pieces.
