The Lookout is an image of the iconic Kookaburra perched in a Bull Banksia tree with pods of all stages from flowering to spent.

Edition number 5 of 5 this one remains uncoloured to allow the sense of the artwork as a relief print where the markmaking can be appreciated. As a monochrome artwork it is bold and eyecatching with a sense of quiet minimalism.

Handprinted in a beautiful black ink on 300gsm cotton tag paper. It is part of a limited edition of 5 originals each one with different colour palettes making it a variable edition.

Nicola is a Perth based multi-award winning artist and owner of The Artists Nook a collaborative artists team providing public and community art projects throughout WA. She has a BA Honours in Fine Art Printmaking from Gray’s School of Art in Scotland.

Her art practice encompasses printmaking and painting with a focus on linocut and watercolour. Nature is a constant throughout her work with native flowers and birds as subjects and motifs.

Art Nouveau and stained glass work have been an enduring inspiration and are echoed throughout her pieces. Juxtaposing flat ink against textural and tonal watercolour washes create a tactility in her still life and botanical pieces.
