Artwork Description

A loose relaxed piece of an Australian backyard from a bye gone era. This scene instantly takes me to my childhood, playing with cousins and siblings at an old aunties house, complete with a chicken hutch. My aim is to simply convey a scene, with out overworking the brushstrokes.

Established Australian artist, Nicole Southworth, grew up in the Sutherland Shire, Sydney

By the age of 19, she was exhibiting her oil paintings in prominent galleries in Sydney. Nicole held her first solo exhibition at the age of 21 in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, and has had many sell-out solo exhibitions since.

Nicole has been a professional artist for more than thirty years having sold thousands of oil paintings to collectors around the world.

Nicole also teaches monthly adult painting workshops.

“I am predominantly a landscape oil painter, enjoying bush and coastal scenes. My landscapes are influenced by many past and present Australian landscape artists, as well as the impressionist and post-impressionist movements.. Of particular interest to me, is the use of colour, light and movement in our unique Australian landscape. ‘
