Painting is my passion, originally with Acrylics and now including Oils
most of my time is spent either painting or searching for that perfect
photo reference. Striving for realistic works I will paint any and all
subject matter in an attempt to deliver a true to life experience to the
viewer. From portraiture to seascapes or still life to nature the never
ending variety of subjects keeps me captive in my quest to deliver
a story telling canvas. Acrylics I love as I like to work quickly and can
achieve so many different effects through glazing and scrubbing colour
over colour. Not having to wait allows that speed and freedom to finish
sometimes in one sitting.
Oils I have become to love for the pure rich colours and texture,
giving body and a depth not available with Acrylics. Although Oils tend
to slow me down this is an aid to my goal of realism. I am still learning
the patience required to work with Oils but then I am still learning with
each painting I create. I intend to continue to learn until the day I can
no longer paint.
With fifty years experience as a Signwriter/Scenic Artist including twenty
two years managing my own business and 14 years as the inhouse
Scenic Artist for Warner Bros. Movie World on the Gold Coast, I have
worked with many artists and have learned a great deal from working
with and observing their techniques.
I am always available for commissions in either medium and will send
my paintings anywhere required. My work is now in private collections
