Artwork Description

"Double Focus" explores the shifting boundaries between observation and distortion. Subtle manipulation of form and reflection demonstrates how our perception bends around what we believe to be true. The image invites the viewer to question the stability of sight - vision is never neutral, but always refracted through the lens of experience.
This artwork is mounted to a cradled board, protected by a cold wax varnish and framed in a pine floating frame.

Artist Bio

Peta Harvey is a Brisbane-based scientist with a not-so-secret life as an artist. After studying Ceramics at the Australian National University’s School of Art, her creative energy is now focused on developing drawing skills and exploring the freshness and spontaneity of ink and watercolour painting, often in combination with pen or pencil.

Peta exhibits frequently in group shows and has been selected for a variety of curated exhibitions. Most notably, she has been a finalist with her portraits and figurative works in the Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize 2022, Lethbridge 20000 Small Scale Art Award (2020-2023, 2026) with a Highly Commended award in 2021, Bluethumb Art Prize 2022, and Revival Art & Design Emerging Artist Prize 2023-2024.
