Artwork Description

Birds are a familiar part of everyday life and none more so than the seagull along the coastline of South East Queensland. I enjoyed the challenge of using the fluidity and transparency of watercolour painting to capture the strength and beauty in the wings of Splash.
Splash was a finalist in the 2019 Moreton Bay Regional Art Awards

Artist Bio

Peta Harvey is a Brisbane-based scientist with a not-so-secret life as an artist. After studying Ceramics at the Australian National University’s School of Art, her creative energy is now focused on developing drawing skills and exploring the freshness and spontaneity of ink and watercolour painting, often in combination with pen or pencil.

Peta exhibits frequently in group shows and has been selected for a variety of curated exhibitions. Most notably, she has been a finalist with her portraits and figurative works in the Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize 2022, Lethbridge 20000 Small Scale Art Award (2020-2023, 2026) with a Highly Commended award in 2021, Bluethumb Art Prize 2022, and Revival Art & Design Emerging Artist Prize 2023-2024.
