Journeyman

All my paintings are heavily influenced by the work of Scottish figurative painter Peter Howson. Periodically I’ll produce something as a direct response from one of his drawings or paintings in an attempted to paint it in his style in order to better understand his painting process which in turn helps me to better understand and improve on my own.

Pete Conroy is an English artist based in Echuca. He focuses his attention on portraits and distortion of the human face and figure. Using traditional techniques mixed with a modern style he paints humans with impossibly stretched facial features and limbs.
Where the shape and structure of his subjects are out of sync with reality he attempts to bring the characters back into the realistic realm with a mix of modern and traditional techniques of oil painting.
