This was one of the first paintings I made after I broke my neck. My fingers still didn’t work and I struggled with steadiness in my new wheelchair. These new issues meant that I couldn’t dictate the direction of the painting, I could only paint within my capabilities. Hence the digital planning and the choppy broken unrefined brushwork to complete each layer.
I got a grant to help me with my artwork so these are painted on super sturdy professional canvases. It’ll be sad to see them go as they were the first I was happy with but they’re taking up too much room in the studio…time for a clear out!
