Country Cricket

This painting is one of a series I have done based on cricket. I was inspired to paint the scene after riding my bicycle on a summer day and coming across a game of cricket in a park. The contrast of the whites of the cricketers and the green grass struck me as calm and peaceful and motivated me to paint.In this painting I included a country clubhouse and spectators.

I am largely a self taught artist. Drawing and Painting have followed me through my life. I am influenced by Hockney, Matisse, Katz and Uta Wohlfarth amongst others. I hope to get as many of my paintings on walls as I can. I paint places, things and people around me and images my mind captures. My style is simplistic and naive.
