Saturday Night at the Astor Theatre

This painting is my impression of the Astor Theatre on a Saturday night. The Astor Theatre in Mt Lawley in Perth is one of our remaining art deco theatre and is a popular live venue. I tried to create the atmosphere of an early evening sunset and people queuing for a show.

I am largely a self taught artist. Drawing and Painting have followed me through my life. I am influenced by Hockney, Matisse, Katz and Uta Wohlfarth amongst others. I hope to get as many of my paintings on walls as I can. I paint places, things and people around me and images my mind captures. My style is simplistic and naive. I hope you enjoy my paintings as much as I enjoy creating them.
