This painting is not my typical subject. It is an image that popped into my head and just stayed there. I felt I needed to paint it to get it out of my mind. The painting doesn't depict any particular war but intends to show the wasteful destruction and misery it causes. The olive tree at the front is 1000 years old and has seen it all before.
