Like my 'Volcano Study #1' this painting is a study of part of the same viewpoint across the volcanic plains towards Daylesford from the Creswick Road near Cattle Station Hill. I find it a stark and thrilling view and wonder at how different yet similar it looked when the Swiss artist, Eugene Von Guerard painted his way across the Victorian Goldfields throughout the Goldrush.
