This painting "Fork toxic masculinity" was a Finalist in the 2020 Waverley Art Prize.
This still life artwork shows a stack of classic books that have a common thread, i.e. the principal characters exhibit strong toxic masculinity traits. The literary characters in these books, such as Heathcliff, James Bond and Jay Gatsby, are romanticised and idolised even though they are sexist, misogynistic, abusive and gas-lighters. The forked banana on top of the books represents the need to bring about a positive social change by dismantling archaic patriarchal constructs and toxic masculinity.
