Artwork Description

With growing popularity, personalising your skate deck is a way to stand out and express your individuality. Having a passion for both skating and street art, this collection of skate decks combines my love of art and design with my love of skateboarding into a colourful depiction of myself.

I decided to paint this because it is exactly how I feel about the world today. We are surrounded by it, and although I don't want to be negative, I felt I needed to paint it. When people see this they either agree, or become defensive. How do you feel about it?

Artist Bio

I spent most of my school years doodling in my notebooks instead of actually taking notes. Using pen to create intricate patterns on paper kept me in the zone for hours on end. I was encouraged to turn my scribbles into art by a work colleague during a meeting (yep still doodling even at work) who introduced me to Zentangle style art.

My earlier works were black and white Zentangle patterns on shapes and silhouettes which I sold at local markets in the town, and surrounds, that I lived in at the time. I experimented with water colours and ink pens to enhance my artworks and bring some colour into my art.

I love bright colours and colourful art. Although the simplicity of black and white is still something that is very attractive to me, I want my art to stand out. After moving to Springfield Lakes, Queensland in 2019 I wanted a fresh approach to my art. I decided to start painting with Acrylic to create bright colourful paintings.

Pop art has always been a style that influences me so I wanted to incorporate this into my own style, however still keeping the simple elements of black and white flowers to soften the image and bring a sort of beauty to the art. Adding Zentangle patterns to complete the image I finally found a way to include my love for bright colours, intricate patterns and soft black and white florals into my own style of art.

The inspiration for my paintings comes from activities, skills, actions and animals that have influenced or impacted the our lives, and the things that we do in some way. That’s why my works include a lot of cool stuff like playing music, sports and activities, pop culture and popular animals.

I hope to continue to grow this style and exhibit in the near future. In the meantime I hope you enjoy my current works.
