Life's a Beach

The images were taken on a bright mid Summer afternoon at Mills beach, Mornington. Smaller 25x12cm works were completed in my studio. Thereafter these were expanded to the 1mx1m format. My approach is tonal realism, taking care with rich colour and shadows.
The frame is a timber box frame approx 1cm width with ash colouring.

Ray enjoys tonal impressionist oil painting, the study of light, in the tradition of early Australian artists (Meldrum et al). He challenges himself to keeping it simple and painterly.
Ray is a fellow and signatory member of the Victorian Artists Society and his works appear in collections in Victoria, interstate and internationally. He has also won numerous awards.
