In this work, the canvas becomes a site of physical negotiation. Utilizing the artist’s signature blue—a hue that shifts between the weight of deep water and the clarity of the sky—the composition explores a meditation on the two forces that shape every life: the quiet stability that keeps us rooted, and the gentle adaptability that lets us grow. Part of the artist’s ongoing Foundational Series, this work emerges from the slow, intentional work of relearning: to move with purpose rather than habit, and to meet change without losing one’s centre. Rendered in the artist’s signature palette of rich, saturated blue, it holds the full spectrum of human feeling — vulnerability and resolve, calm and restlessness — within its layered forms.
This piece balances opposing truths: how to stand firm without becoming rigid, how to move freely without losing your way, and how friction and softness together make something whole. Drawing from cubist fragmentation and expressive figuration, overlapping perspectives speak to the many sides of who we are, and the possibility of becoming something more, without leaving ourselves behind.
Deep matte acrylic forms the work’s vivid base, while oil crayon and oil pastel bring crisp definition and delicate, shifting texture — every stroke is hand‑applied, so the surface changes and comes alive as light falls across it.
