Artwork Description

The meaning and drive behind my 'Aussie Animal' creations:
It's coming up to 2 years since we lost close to 3 billion animals which were impacted (either killed or displaced) from the Aussie Bushfires in 2019: with the breakdown being 143 million mammals, 2.46 billion reptiles, 180 million birds, and 51 million frogs. Our native species were already battling an extinction crisis before the flames impacted nearly 3 billion animals.

This definitely impacted us all in more ways that one, and in 2020 I created beautiful representations of our much loved Aussie Animals and donated 100% of proceeds to wildlife rescue. I have also since become a Pearl Business Supporter of the The Australian Marine Conservation Society: whereby my artworks have also raised funds towards preserving our precious marine wildlife.

This highly detailed Kookaburra was drawn completely upside down, with much attention paid to capturing each feather detail. I always feels so grateful when hearing their beautiful tunes and singing each morning!

I absolutely loved creating this piece and it has been beautifully/professionally framed - would make a grand statement and beautiful addition to any home or interior decor. This piece is 1 of 3 part series titled 'Our Aussie Heroes'.

Framed with RAW Australian oak - small flat box gallery mould.
467 mm wide x 617mm high

Artist Bio

An intriguing artist of the 21st century, wife, loving mother, entrepreneur, book-illustrator and realistic sketcher/painter, Rebekah strives to take you on a visual journey that will leave you in awe.

Rebekah Ziola (Bekymaree), is known for creating captivating and innovative art. Insanely passionate about art and design, Rebekah completed her Bachelor of Science in Design on full scholarship at The Ohio State University in 2007. As a Pearl Business Supporter of the The Australian Marine Conservation Society: Rebekah's artworks have also raised funds towards preserving our precious marine wildlife for multiple years. And, in 2020, one artwork piece in particular raised closed to $1000 for Wires Wildlife Rescue.

Rebekah Ziola captures her subjects in "realistic" pencil, ink and watercolour โ€“ that are all too mesmerising, hypnotic and spellbinding. Her distinct custom portraits, and alternate subjects are original and iconic. Adding her special taste in every image, Bek produces realistic sketches and paintings in varied scales that have also been recognised internationally:

"Look at this gorgeous drawing Bekymaree is working on of our chicken, how precious"
Whitney Eve Port

"Your work is beautiful"
Kerrie Hess

She transforms her ideas into beautiful art pieces, which, at a first glance might look like richly-coloured paintings or photographs, but on closer observation, you will find yourself immersed in her art. With colour, vibrancy, subtle motion and details, her sketches and paintings are alive, figuratively and literally.

Rebekah Ziola takes an innovative approach to art which sets her apart; mostly sketching upside down and with an array of different materials to perfect her final pieces; always striving to achieve a higher level of technical ability. Rebekah has dedicated her life to sketching and painting and brings beauty to life by portraying it on the canvas/paper.
