Artwork Description

Recently hung as a finalist in the Wingecarribee Landscape Prize, Bowral Art Gallery.

This abstract painting captures the essence of travel, with its distant silhouette hills, pockets of fiery light, and a cascading waterfall. Using loose brushwork and expressive marks to create a sense of movement and energy, while current events and news that are imbued within the painting add a layer of depth and meaning.
The painting is not a definitive spot on the map, but rather a representation of personal experiences and memories of travel. It is a reminder that travel is more than just a physical journey; it is also a journey of the mind and the soul.
It is a work that I hope to inspire and transport viewers to far-off places.

Artist Bio

Robyn’s colour-filled landscape and still life paintings are inspired by a thoughtful collision between the natural environment and human mediation.
With the Australian landscape in mind, she attests to the world at large through paint, presenting her findings energetically and fluidly on the canvas.
Her process depends on spontaneous action and reply, merging vigorous brushstrokes and mark-making, working in a deliberate yet expressive manner.
Her evocative artwork can be found in collections across Australia, New Zealand, UK and USA.
