My name is Ron Cooper and Art is my lifelong pursuit and passion with an intense focus on oil painting. My creative process is both spontaneous and thoughtful, plunging the viewer into a world of reflections, mirror images, memories and fantasy. My process involves found images, drawings and internal visions, referring at once to influences both historical and contemporary. I have worked extensively with woodblock printing and intaglio in addition to all forms of painting and mixed media. I was awarded the prestigious Nancy Jo Abeles scholarship at SUNY Purchase where I earned my BFA. I also studied at the School of Visual Arts and the Art Students League in NYC, The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, and was awarded 2 consecutive scholarships to attend the New York Summer School of The Arts at Fredonia, NY. My work can be found in private collections both in the US and internationally. I actively pursue a parallel career as a Visual Artist, Graphic Designer/Developer and Stonemason Contractor. I was born in Los Angeles in 1966 and spent much of my early career in New Mexico. I currently work and live in Mount Shasta, California.
