Obstruction of The Birthing Tree.
102cm X 81cm. Acrylic,paint pens and pencil on board. Started this with the resolve to change the palette. Certainly did that. Subject matter : across Australia there are hollowed out trees two, three, maybe even four hundred years old. Pregnant Aborigines went to the trees to give birth. Part process. Part ritual. A ceremony dating back maybe forty thousand years. Or more.. This particular tree hollow has been blocked by an amorphous blob of WHITE. And to our eternal shame, ainโt that the truth !
